The internet is a network that connects all computers around the world. American computer scientist Robert Kahn Vinton Cerf created the TCP/IP. This allows data to move through a network. Robert W. Taylor led the development of the Arpanet. Bob and Vinton’s TCP/IP applied to Roberts Arpenanent helped it evolve to the internet. The internet started in the 1960’s for the government researchers to share information, today it is used for quickly finding information and communicating around the world.

The world wide web is a collection of different websites around the world. The WWW was made by Timothy Berner Lee in 1989 for researchers to work together. The world wide web is made up of a few technologies: web browsers, Hypertext markup language and hypertext transfer protocol. Today through the world wide web people can access different web pages through a series of HTTP links.

The world wide web and internet are different. The world wide web needs the internet to work on. The first website was created on August 6th, 1991. It was instructions on how to use the world wide web. If someone wanted to, they could still access that website today. The URL is https://info.cern.ch/

Hedy Lamarr was an Australian-American actress and inventor. Hedy Lamarr invented frequency hopping. Frequency hopping was a way of switching between radio frequencies in order to avoid a jammed signal. In 2014 she was inducted into the national inventors hall of fame for her frequency hopping and was dubbed the “mother of wifi” . There is a song for Hedy Lamarr called “This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr” by Jeff Beck and Johnny depp. The song shares that she was a genius trapped by her appearance of a movie diva.

The inventor of bluetooth is Jaap Haartsen. It was made in 1994 but the first bluetooth phone did not hit the market till 2001. The name bluetooth comes from the epithet of King Harald Bluetooth. The bluetooth logo looks the way it does because it consists of a Younger Futhark bind rune for his initials, H and B. Wifi was developed September 21st, 1997. The original name for it was WaveLAN. Wifi's name came from a marketing firm hired by WECA and chosen for its pleasing sound.
